Carpooling Resources

Carpooling is a great solution that saves money while reduces traffic and parking congestion. When you carpool to work, you don't have to register for carpooling spots; they are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

On-site Carpool Parking for Staff

100 spots are available Monday to Friday at the Summer Street Parkade on levels 6 & 7 to accommodate staff who carpool to work and arrive before 8:30 a.m. with a minimum of two staff per car (NS Health ID required). Each carpool vehicle will cost $10 per day to park.

Finding a Carpool Partner

Sign up for Halifax Transit's SmartRide app. Staff can create an account using their Nova Scotia Health work email and be connected with other staff who are looking to carpool in their area.

How to use the carpooling spaces at the Summer Street Parkade

When you arrive at the carpool spaces in Summer Street Parkade, located on part of level 6 and level 7, you will be greeted by an attendant. The attendant will check NS Health IDs and provide the driver with a carpool rebate ticket, which will provide them a discounted rate of $10 upon exit on the same day.

If a parking attendant is not on Level 6, please park your vehicle in the designated carpooling area and go to the Parking Office on Level 3 with your carpool partner to obtain a carpool rebate ticket.

When leaving for the day, you can pay at the exit station or at one of the paystations, located on level 1 and 3.

  • Insert your entry ticket into the station

  • Insert the rebate ticket

  • Pay using your payment card of choice (for cash payment, use the Level 1 paystation)

  • If you require assistance, please push the help intercom button, located on the station
